| Born in Punjab, India, Jaspal came to Canada at a young age. He graduated in Anthropology and Philosophy from the University of Toronto, and Ottawa's Carleton University.
While studying at Carleton, Jaspal worked at the National Museum of Man as an artist, contributing illustrations for books that dealt with the cultures of the Native People of Canada. This work was the impetus for his decision to study fine art, and upon graduation he enrolled in Instituto Regional de Bellas Artes in Cuernavaca, Mexico, and later, in The American School in Florence, Italy. Graduate studies were completed at Allegmeine Gewerbeschule Kunst School in Basel, Switzerland.
Jaspal now resides and works in Montreal, Quebec.
